Here is a simple step-by-step guide on how to set up an email account, using Gmail as an example:

  1. Go to Gmail: Open your web browser and go to the Gmail homepage (www.gmail.com).

  2. Create Account: Click on “Create account”. You’ll have the option to create an account for myself or to manage my business. Choose according to your needs.

  3. Fill Out Information: You’ll be asked to provide some personal information, such as your first and last name, the email address you want to register, and a password. Fill these in. I was lucky because when I set up my Gmail account, when it first started in 2004, I was able to get cathycasey@gmail.com, now you may not be so lucky, so choose something that gives your name and maybe your year of birth. e.g. cathycasey1951@gmail.com. Please be aware that you cannot use someone else's email, for instance if someone tries to set up cathy.casey51@gmail.com (and succeeds!) then those emails will only come to me, weird I know, why would they be able to set them up in the first place? I put my own name into Facebook and this is the first page of my namesakes

  4. Phone Verification: Google may ask for phone verification to ensure you’re not a robot. Enter your phone number, and you’ll receive a text message with a code. Enter this code when prompted.

  5. Personal Details: Next, you’ll be asked for some more details like your birthday and gender. Fill these in.

  6. Privacy and Terms: Read and accept the Privacy and Terms.

  7. Set Up Complete: That’s it! Your new email account is set up. You can now send and receive emails.

Remember, the steps might vary slightly depending on the email provider (Yahoo, Outlook, etc.). It’s always a good idea to go slowly through these steps for the first few times until you get comfortable. Good luck! 😊
